Fresno City College

The College opened its doors on September 12, 1910 as Fresno Junior College becoming California’s first community college and second in the nation. Fresno City College serves over 30,000 students each academic year. There are eight academic divisions and two student service divisions. In addition to the main campus, the college includes the Career & Technology Center located south of the main campus. This site offers open-entry, 10-30 week vocational programs.

Students have multiple educational opportunities available to them that include:

  • More than 109 major courses of study
  • 118 Associate Degrees
  • 84 Certificates of Achievement
  • 20 Associate Degrees for Transfer (SB1440)
  • 7 Certificates of Completion

The college also offers over 200 vocational and occupational programs with various levels of training that includes a practical hands-on environment for immediate employment opportunities. The Fire and Police Academies offer a comprehensive and intensive course of study that specializes in the training of public safety personnel and first responders.

As a Hispanic Serving Institution, FCC has a diverse student population representing various age brackets and ethnic backgrounds that reflect the greater Fresno community. A wide range of college activities and co-curricular programs are available for students to enhance their learning experience.

In 2012, the Athletic Program was nationally recognized and received the inaugural Learfield Sports Director’s Cup for Community Colleges. The college has a total of 20 teams that participate in intercollegiate competition in the Central Valley Conference.

The campus has more than 51 buildings located on 99 developed acres. The oldest building on campus is the Old Administration Building opened in 1916 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
